Luanda - Seventeen thousand and 642 citizens were infected by Covid-19, from March to the present date, in Angola, of which 11 thousand and 223 people are already recovering from this disease, six thousand and 11 are still in the active phase, while 408 lost their life.

According to the national health authorities, of the active patients, one is in critical condition, eight are severe, 78 are moderate, 74 are mild, and 5,850 are asymptomatic.

In the last 24 hours, the country recorded 34 new positive cases, 34 recoveries and one death, according to the Multisectoral Commission for Prevention and Combating Covid-19.

The newly infected ones were diagnosed in the provinces of Zaire, with 13 cases, Luanda (11), Bié (4), Cuanza Sul (4) and two in Uíge, aged between 17 and 74 years old, 25 men and nine women.

As for those recovered, 21 are from Luanda, six from Huambo, four from Namibe, two from Bié and one from Cuanza Sul, aged between 13 and 71 years.

The death, which occurred in the province of Uíge, involves a 66-year-old Angolan citizen.

Regarding laboratory activity, 1,547 samples were processed by RT-PCR in the last 24 hours, resulting in 34 infected, representing a daily positivity rate of 2.2 percent.

The cumulative number of processed samples, from March 2020 to January 2021, is 313 thousand and 489, being 17 thousand and 642 positive and 295,847 negative, representing an accumulated positivity rate of 5.6 percent.

After nine consecutive months of live transmission and updating of Covid-19 data in Angola, the respective sessions are held three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday, starting this Monday (04) , in the same place, Centro de Imprensa Aníbal de Melo (CIAM), and schedule.

According to the Multisectoral Commission for the Prevention and Combat of Covid-19, on days when there are no live broadcasts, the reports will be directly forwarded to the newsrooms of the media for proper treatment.
