Luanda - Seventeen thousand and 296 citizens were infected by Covid-19, from March to the present date, in Angola, of which 6,572 are still active patients, 10,321 recovered and 403 resulted in deaths.

Of the active cases, three are in critical condition, seven severe, 71 moderate, 96 mild and 6,395 asymptomatic.

In the last 24 hours, the Angolan health authorities registered 56 new positive cases, 67 recovered and four deaths, according to the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda.

When updating Covid-19 data for the last 24 hours in the country, the leader said that of the newly infected, 24 were diagnosed in Lunda Sul, 14 in Luanda, 12 in Huambo, four in Bié, one in Benguela and an equal number in the province of Moxico.

The ages of these new cases vary between 13 and 62 years, with 40 male and 16 female. As for those recovered, 53 are in Luanda, nine in Huambo, three in Moxico and two in Bié, aged between one and 72 years.

The deaths involve a Portuguese citizen and three Angolans, aged between 36 and 83 years old, three men and one woman.

Regarding laboratory activity, 666 samples were processed by RT-PCR in the last 24 hours, resulting in 56 infected, representing a daily positivity rate of 8.4 percent.

The total of processed samples, since last March, is 304 thousand and 484, of which 17 thousand and 296 are positive, representing an accumulated positivity rate of 5.7 percent.

Currently, treatment centers are monitoring 177 patients.
