Luanda - With a total of 17,556 positive cases recorded, from March to December 2020, Angola has been without cases of death by Covid-19 for 48 hours, according to the Angolan health authorities.

According to the Multisectoral Commission for the Prevention and Combat of Covid-19, of the total infected, 6 thousand and 17 are active patients, 11 thousand and 146 people were recovered, while 405 resulted in deaths.

Of the active cases, one patient is in a critical condition, seven severe, 74 moderate, 74 mild and five thousand and 861 asymptomatic.

Data from this Commission also point out that, in the last 24 hours, the country registered 15 new cases of coronavirus, 11 in Luanda, three in Cabinda and one in the province of Bié, aged between four and 76 years old, four men and 11 women.

According to Angolan authorities, the low number of infected people, diagnosed in the last 24 hours, was due to the celebration of the New Year, which made it impossible to process more samples across the country.

Still during this period, 102 citizens recover from Covid-19, 99 in Luanda and three in Bié, aged between two and 66 years.

Regarding laboratory activity, 376 samples were processed by RT-PCR in the last 24 hours, resulting in 15 infected, representing a daily positivity rate of 3.9 percent.

The total of processed samples, from March to December 2020, is 311 thousand and 308, of which 17 thousand and 568 are positive and 293 thousand and 740 negative, representing an accumulated positivity rate of 5.6 percent.

After two days of interruption, due to the festive season, the usual update and live transmission of Covid-19 data, from the Aníbal de Melo Press Center (CIAM), resumes this Saturday, January 2nd.
