COVID-19: ANGOLA REACHES MORE THAN 17,000 POSITIVE CASES

Luanda - Angola reached, on Thursday (24th), a cumulative of 17,029 positive cases of Covid-19, of which 6,716 were active, 9,918 recovered and 395 deaths, on a day when there was no traditional update and transmission of data in Direct.

According to the Multisectoral Commission for the Prevention and Combat of Covid-19, of the total assets three patients are in critical condition, five serious, 78 moderate, 107 mild and 6,523 asymptomatic.

According to the Angolan health authorities, in the last 24 hours, there were 98 new cases, 111 recovered and one death.

Of the new infections reported in this period, 31 were in Luanda, 25 in Lunda Norte, 10 in Huambo, eight each in Cabinda and Zaire, five in Cuanza Norte, four in Cuando Cubando, two in Benguela and an equal number in Moxico, while Bié, Bengo and Uíge provinces registered one case each.

The ages of newly infected people range from two to 80 years, with 66 male and 32 female.

As for recoveries, 73 people recovered in Luanda, 30 in Lunda Sul, five in Moxico and three in Zaire, aged from one to 77 years. The death occurred in Cabinda and involves a 66-year-old citizen.

In the last 24 hours, health authorities processed 2,573 samples, resulting in 98 new cases, which represents a daily positivity rate of 3.8 percent.

The total number of samples processed by RT-PCR, since last March, is 300,372, with 17,029 positive and 283,342 negative, with an accumulated positivity rate of 5.7 percent.
