The number of passengers from abroad, who tested positive for Covid-19, in the period from 16 to 29 January, increased yesterday to 22 cases, in a universe of 8,098 passengers.

 

Among the 22 confirmed cases, 16 are male and six female, whose infections were detected as part of the mandatory post-landing testing at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, in Luanda, as part of the specific measures aimed at halting entry and circulation of new virus variants in the country.
According to the Secretary of State for Public Health, among those infected with the disease, eight come from Portugal, four from Dubai, three from Germany, two from Brazil, two from Mozambique, one from South Africa and an equal number of Republics of Congo and France.Franco Mufinda, who spoke in the usual daily situation of Covid-19 in Angola, made it known that, regarding the nationalities of the infected, 11 are Angolans, three Brazilians, two Nigerians, one British, one Congolese , a French, an Israeli, a Mozambican and a South African.

According to Franco Mufinda, when they disembark at the airport, they must observe a 10-day quarantine and, after this period, they must carry out a new test until they receive the epidemiological discharge. . They are Angolans from Portugal, 55 and 59 years old, being a man and a woman ”, underlined the Secretary of State for Public Health.
Epidemiological situation

In the past 24 hours, the country has not reported any deaths from Covid-19, but there are a further 51 infected, of whom 24 are male and 27 are female, aged 11 months to 70 years. Of these cases, 40 are from Luanda, seven from Huambo, one from Uíge and an equal number from Moxico, Benguela and Malanje. Luanda leads the statistics by accumulating 90 percent of confirmed cases at the country level, since last March.

Franco Mufinda also highlighted the recovery of 226 people, aged between 8 months and 78 years old, 105 from Luanda, 56 from Cuanza-Sul, 22 from Zaire, 17 from Huambo, Lunda-Norte, 12, the same number for Benguela, while Cunene and Namibe each recover. At this time, in Angola there is a cumulative of 19,723 confirmed cases of Covid-19, of which 1,341 are active, 464 are deaths and 17,918 are recovered.
Active cases

Of the 1,341 active cases, he said, four are in critical condition, 9 in severe condition, 92 moderate, 88 mild and 1,148 asymptomatic. In the last 24 hours, 975 samples were processed by RT-PCR, 36 positive and 939 negative, with a positivity rate of 3.7 percent.

Just yesterday, in the last 24 hours, 205 samples were processed by rapid antigen diagnostic tests, of which 15 were positive and 190 were negative. The cumulative number of processed samples is 358,426 (19,723 positive and 338,703 negative), with a positivity rate of 5.5 percent.

In relation to institutional quarantine discharges, there are ten registered in the last 24 hours, six in Moxico and four in Cuanza-Sul. The Mental Health and Psychosocial Intervention Team assisted 50 people through the Psychological Support Line. The Integrated Public Security Center (CISP) received 61 calls, all related to requests for information about the pandemic.
