The Angolan health authorities announced today 70 new infections by covid-19, one dead and three recovered, totaling 17,099 cases, 396 deaths and 9,921 recovered. Statistical data from the last 24 hours indicate that 39 men and 31 women, aged between 1 and 71 years, were infected, 30 from Moxico, 14 from Luanda, 13 from Lunda Norte, six from Bié, four from Cabinda, two from Huíla and one from Uíje.

The death was of a 71-year-old woman in the province of Luanda, while those recovered, aged between 17 and 34, are also from the province of Luanda. Regarding laboratory analyzes, 1,475 samples were processed in the last 24 hours, with a daily positivity rate of 4.7%, while cumulatively 301.847 samples were processed, being 17,099 positive and 284,748 negative, with a positivity rate of 5.7%.

For the time being, a total of 6,782 cases are active, of which three are in critical condition, four severe, 78 moderate, 107 mild and 6,590 asymptomatic. The covid-19 pandemic caused at least 1,743,187 deaths as a result of more than 79.3 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
